TILT Dance Company promotes contemporary dance (modern & ballet) as a vehicle for well-being and enlightenment. 	TILT Dance Company was the first in the state to teach dance to youth with developmental disabilities; the first to partner with New York’s Dance Film Association to create a dance film festival; the first on Maui to present experimental dance performances in the PILOT Performance Project; and we were the first in the state to participate in National Dance Week, a springtime event celebrated across the nation. Our work in our community contributes to a sense of place and community pride - an audience member from Lahaina said “Thank you for taking me on such a wonderful journey.” and another from Haiku said, “(the dance) Cost of Freedom left an idelible image in my mind...I saw something differently then, and that’s the job of art.” Our in-the-schools dance program, that is aligned with federal and state content standards, allows schools to provide an arts-infused curriculum. Our signature program, for learning disabled and autistic youth, uses dance therapy to facilitate emotional development and improve communication skills.
